Rescuer Safety: Innovation through Experience

The presentation will be based around Matt's experience over many years attending incidents and his knowledge of the dangers involved in such challenging rescues. This led him to develop a piece of structural stability monitoring equipment to improve the safety of the rescuers. His innovation is now used operationally in over 30 countries.

About Matt Keogh

Matt has spent over 34 years within the search and rescue arena, initially serving in the Royal Air Force (RAF) then Greater Manchester fire and rescue service.

During this time Matt has attended thousands of incidents giving and in-depth knowledge of operational procedures and associated equipment in all aspects of modern inner-city firefighting.

Matt spent four years on secondment at the national fire college at Moreton in Marsh leading the United Kingdom's new dimension project on Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) resilience and wrote operational government guidance on procedures and equipment.

Matt is a founder member of the United Kingdom International Search and Rescue team (UKISAR) and spent 27 years responding nationally and internationally to disasters.

Matt has also been involved in product development and now retired he consultants worldwide sharing his knowledge and experience mentoring teams and companies involved in the industry.
