Role of Youth and Space Education in Mitigating Disasters

Youth play a crucial role in shaping the future of climate change and disaster management. At the Space Generation Advisory Council in support of the United Nations programme on Space Applications, youth from around the world exchange ideas on international space policy issues and space-based applications to tackle disaster management. This talk will explore engaging the next generation using space education and to tap on fresh ideas.

About Faith Tng

Faith started and built her career in Singapore’s space industry, at a time when local search results only showed one NewSpace company. Since then, her journey has seen her through leading publicity efforts for Singapore''s first research experiment to the International Space Station, living on a farm in Israel that dabbled in space-related food technology, and running space food and life sciences programmes in collaboration with government agencies. She is currently the Co-Lead of the Space Mentoring Program at the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in support of the United Nations programme for Space Applications and formerly served as Singapore''s National Point of Contact for two terms. Passionate about engaging youth in space issues, she co-launched SGAC''s first platform for Southeast Asia space issues where space agency heads, academia and industry stakeholders, as well as youth delegates discussed space applications for disaster mitigation and other region-relevant benefits.
